Doubt

Why be doubtful?

From the stand point of argument this question can be important from both perspectives. Doubt is the intuition of reason begging for your attention. This is usually guaged by how strong the feeling is. The stronger the feeling the greater call for attention. The problem many face is strong feelings of doubt can charge into emotion. What emotion occurs is usually irrelevant of the idea and just representative of someones existing perspective on it.

The trick here is not to get caught up in the emotion of the feeling. Too many people become overly aggressive and therefore defensive to new information and most expressions of it. Being caught up in this feeling is the sure way to remain founded in your beliefs regardless of its accuracy.

And this is one of the key points here. Being doubtful is not about being right, its about being mindful. To be mindful is to encourage attention on the idea and then ofcourse awareness of your perspective. Your perspectives grounds your beliefs for they are the only thing you have to stand on.

Much of these feelings seem to come from belief shattering ideas that appear to challenge what we understand and believe in. Atleast that is what you are told. To place ths feeling  in that defensive position is to automatically ”write off” the idea and refuse futher consideration about it. Do this too many times and you will automatically react this way to doubt and anything new coming your way will automatically become threatening and whether understanding it or not, you lash out at the perceived idea in retaliation of its presence. Ofcourse the severity of this is greatly dependent on the strength of the feeling of doubt that arrives from that idea.

Remaining firm in idea is not a good idea, as it doesn’t encourage mindfulness. Very little thought enters you mind. the raw emotion of doubt takes hold of your attention and throws you through the emotional roller coaster leaving you wondering what the hell is going on and resisting others expressions of what seems incredible ideas and nonsense. How fitting nonsense seems to be derivative of “no sense’ a rather blind leap of faith into your preconscribed ideologies.

Thats the thing. Even a lie makes sense. Its the very nature of that sense that makes that lie what it is. But how could you know that if you don’t even entertain the lie. Why is this a lie? What makes it a lie? How can this be supported as a lie and who or what are the reasons you believe this is a lie. Unless you atleast question this lie and why it is you think it is, you will refuse yourself the opportunity to prove reason and/or atleast be corrected on your perspective.

You see, how can you even consider your standing point in any disagreement unless you actually know what the ground looks like and what you stand for in the first place.  And no, because someone else “said is so” is not a reason. Don’t be a zombie, think for yourself!

The feeling of doubt is just the feeling of change. It can be easily misunderstood or misguided into the ideology that accepting the idea by its own merits is to accept the truth of it and belief it. Remember you can accept the idea is a lie as easily as you can accept it as truth. The point being here just accept it. Accept it and change. It is the only way forward  It is inevitable but because of ignorance you are given the impression of a choice. In my opinion a false choice. Ignorance isn’t a choice, but the mere abscence of it.

You see, what appears as a choice is infact the decision not to make one. To remain in ignorance of the understanding of new perspective. You see there exists very few ultimate truths, many are just approximations or best guesses created by perspectives and the interchanging relationships between them. Many confuse these relationships as the truth and through their self-rightousness resist the opportunity for that perspective to relate to the contradictioning perspectives of others.

We seem to forget that their are no wrong perspectives. Only limited perspectives. Change them and grow them for without them, you are already all that you can know and be. And could you possibly believe that? Why? Why not? You are only what you believe you are. Keep thinking this or that and you leave yourself no other choice. This same concept applies to all things.

So next time you are supposibly challenged, just try and think outside the square and remember the following choice doesn’t really do much for you.

  1. Remain self-rightous and through either the impressions of society or emotion refuse the opportunity to consider the idea and therefore remain in ignorance of the understanding of new perspective.
  2. Accept the idea at face value and accept the percieved merits without or with very little consideration/question and therefore remain in ignorance of the understanding of new perspective.

This appears as a polarity of choice but really points in the same direction. How can this be a choice. It doesn’t represent change. Change of perspective. You see, had this new information been a lie, you could have come to realise why this is so and expose the flaws from that perspective. But you can’t expose something you can’t see, and how can you see anything if there isn’t any understanding of what it is?

Alternatively had it been true you could of come to realise why and therefore expose the limited perspective for which your beliefs have been holding you in.

The ultimate advice here I can give you is to realise that the feeliing of doubt doesn’t guage the validity of the information but the need for a change of perspective. If you don’t have a change of perspective, pay attention and think about it. Question it, consider it. Place that thought in mind and let it generate into your state of mind. You can not change unless you are in the state of mind to support it and you may find that is the only thing that needed to change in the first place. Different states of mind effect the relationships between ideas differently. Many realisations come about from seeing the relationships differently and this can only be achieved by considering the state of mind. Most emotional responses are reflective of the state of mind of the perspective that governs it, thus usually being the usual response to that situation of doubt. Remaining slaved to that response is to stay chained to one single perspective. No change, no way.

For where you steer in your perspectives will almost completely decide what you do in life, influencing and guiding your decisions and understandings in a ripple effect for the rest of your life! This is exactly why the feeling is there. Not to tell you what is right and what is wrong, but what is there!

There it is, can you see it? Are you even paying attention?
